Formal examination: after lodged of application to check on formal requirements
Notice of Substantive Results: Applicant to respond within 2 months of date of notice to comply with Examiner’s request.
Grant: Grant fee to be paid within 42 months from first priority
Protection period: 20 years for patent from filing subject to payment of annual fees.
Estimate time to obtain grant for straight forward patent application approximately 3-4 years from filing

Simply signed Power of Attorney (Form 22). To be submitted at the time of filing.
Extension of time for responding to Office Action
Allowed subject to the discreation of the Registrar.
Registration Protection Period
10 years from the date of registration
Renewal application can be made within 6 months before expiry (grace period of 6 months from the date of expiry is allowed).
